Pembrokeshire RIBs 2022

FBOR’22 is on 16 & 17 July, the 7th year of this annual offshore canoe racing event, running from Goodwick to Newport Sands, and open Ocean Racing Skis, SUPs (Stand Up Paddleboards) and Prone Boards.

Fishguard Bay Ocean Race is a community-based, volunteer-run, non-profit event run by Canoe Wales affiliated club, Pembrokeshire Ocean Paddlers in our ideal location for ocean canoe racing.

On Saturday 16th FBOR’22 hosts the 2022 Welsh Ocean Ski National Championships, which is also a key GB Team selection race for the World Championships in Portugal. These are all Elite, international level athletes so the pace will be blistering over every inch of the 17km race.

Sunday 17th races are still challenging but more fun events for intermediate and advanced ski paddlers and the best ocean SUP and Prone competitors, all who vie for the lead over the 13km race.

FBOR’22 has attracted more entries than ever and we need more support boats – so here’s a chance for Pembrokeshire RIB drivers to shine!

We aim to provide a support boat for every ten competitors and would be delighted to welcome new RIB owners and crew to join our race support team – your fuel expenses will be reimbursed on invoice. Start time for both days is 09:30, about an hour before high water, and the last finisher should be ashore by midday, so you could be finished for lunchtime!

If you’d like to join in with your RIB, please phone or email race secretary, Benjamin Edom, 07860379348 or oceanskirace@gmail.com and please visit our website for more details on the race https://fishguardoceanrace.uk/
